I first read the book Mrs. Mike, by Benedict and Nancy Freedman, when I was a teenager - maybe thirteen or fourteen. I immediately fell in love with the characters, and I wanted nothing more than to move to the wild Northwest Territories and be Mrs. Mike. It is a love story and a life story. I still love it today and could probably directly quote lines from the book if you asked me to. Now, all these years later, I am Mrs. Mike. But while Katherine Mary and her Mike moved west, I and my Mike have moved east. Far east. To Japan. I am Mrs. Mike. That means, of course, that my husband is Mr. Mike. We have two boys. In keeping with our northwest theme, they are Bear and Beaver. This is my story.
